I've been a working mother for two and a half weeks now and so far so good! To be exact, I'm a working mother and a graduate student, which is a bit of an exhausting combination, but I have high hopes I'll survive this summer with at least some sanity intact:)
So I'm working full time and doing a minor in education at the university this summer, while finishing my Master of Arts thesis. Yup, I'm a little bit insane already. Originally I also planned on starting my Master of Business Administration thesis this summer as well, but I've come to realize I do actually have to sleep at least every other night, so I'll have to postpone the MBA thesis until the fall. If I had known I will be employed this summer (I didn't think I'd get a job this fast), I probably would not have started the education minor. But, I'm no quitter, so now I'm going to have to finish that one as well.
My desk at the office really needs some color
Besides work and studies, I also spend as much time as I can with our lil man. Luckily my boss is super easygoing and we've agreed upon a flexible work schedule, which means that lil man only has to do 8 hour days at the playschool. He's been coping pretty well, except (those that don't like potty stuff should skip the following) he has refused to poop at the playschool. This means that when I pick him up, he usually really, really needs to go. He has also been skipping lunch and nap time, which means he is also hungry and tired when we get home. So, sometimes the trip home is a bit trying :)
At least my planner is a pretty pink one :)
Next month I'm taking a week of unpaid vacation from work and heading to a zoological station to finish my MA thesis, yay! My university was kind and generous and granted me a thesis scholarship. They will pay for my room and board for a week at the station, so I can focus on writing. I'm super excited and feel very blessed to have this opportunity, since I was a bit worried my thesis would never be finished. Now I'm feeling very hopeful about graduating this fall :)
So that's what's going on with my life, pretty hectic right now :) I won't have any real vacation this summer, so I'll just have to make the best out of the free weekends I have.
Wishing everyone a wonderful Midsummer!
