Jane's Island State Park

I haven't posted anything in ages, but I wanted to share some photos and information on Jane's Island State Park in Crisfield, Maryland. We went there last month and it was really challenging to find information on the mini cabins and the park itself before we left.

There are four mini or camper cabins for rent in the state park area; cabins A, B, C and D. All of the cabins have beds for 4 people. Cabins A and B have two bunk beds and cabins C and D have a double bed and one bunk bed. Cabins C and D are pet friendly.

Since we were traveling with our 4 month old puppy, we booked cabin C and I'm so glad we did, since in my opinion it had the best view.

View from the cabin porch.

Cabins D and C. There is a fire ring behind the tree.

Inside Camper Cabin C, the cabins have AC/heating and a ceiling fan.

Small indoor table and four plastic chairs.

Double bed, bring your own sheets.

Bunk bed.

This is the view from the cabin, the sunsets are gorgeous!

The cabins have no running water or bathrooms, but there was a bathhouse a short walk away. Obviously bring flashlights :)

The shower facilities were decent as well.

Since we went there during Covid, the camp store was closed and they were not renting kayaks. However, there was a private company renting kayaks nearby. Firewood was still available for purchase from the camp office using an envelope to deposit money.

All in all we were really pleased with our stay and plan on visiting Jane's Island State Park again later this year, when there's less bugs. There definitely were a lot of june bugs and mosquitoes plus some ticks, so bring your repellents and check your party for ticks in the evenings.

New York, New York!

We're back from our anniversary trip to NYC with lots of fun memories and plenty of new clothes, shoes and bags ;) I'll post something about our trip and my shoppings later, but I thought I'd first share some random photos. Here are some of the things we did:

Went to the Empire State Building, here's husband holding his ticket. We did this on the first morning of our trip, since we woke up at 6am and couldn't sleep. I've been there a couple of times before, and wasn't too excited to have to wait to get in, but when we got there just before 8am, we were the first ones to arrive. So no waiting and gorgeous views!

Blogger herself admiring the views :)

Went to the American Museum of Natural History. Been there a couple of times as well, but husband loves paleontology and I didn't mind seeing the dinosaur bones again, pretty impressive stuff.

Went to Times Square and bunch of other touristy places...

...including the Central Park. We did a lot of general wondering around and enjoyed our visit quite a bit :)

Hope everyone is having the most wonderful weekend!

NYC trippin' plans

Husband and I are heading to New York City in a couple of weeks to celebrate our first anniversary and since I've been there a half a dozen times, I have some plans already made :) Husband, on the other hand, has never been there and I've been trying to plan so that he'd be able to enjoy NYC too. We'll be there only for 5 days, so you can't really do a whole lot in that short of a time.

Random photos of previous visits

Here's what I want to do:

*Ellis Island - never been there and my greatgreatgrandpa emigrated to the U.S back in the day. And as a U.S History student I probably should have been to Ellis Island already. We'll check out Statue of Liberty on our way there.

*The Met - been there about a half a dozen times, but want husband to see it

*Museum of Natural History - been there a couple of times as well, but I think husband will enjoy it

*Central Park - would not miss Central Park, love it! Perhaps combined to the Met visit

*day of subwaying - I think NYC subway system is an experience for husband. He's been to the Helsinki metro, but that's it :) We'll check out some districts while we do this, so general sightseeing day

*shopping til the credit cards max out, yup, that's my plan :)

I find it really hard to think what would be important, since I've seen all the major attractions. I don't think waiting in line to see Empire State Building was worth it (nor do I want to pay to skip the line) and visiting the Statue of Liberty was kinda boring too. I'd rather just check it out from the ferry. If we had more time I'd love to go Coney Island, but considering how little time we have, we might have to skip it.

What do you guys think of my list? Have any good suggestions for a first time visitor?
